Diazepam (including Mylan 271 generic version) is a
member of the benzodiazepine family. Benzodiazepines are drugs that
cause dose-related depression of the central nervous system. They are
useful in treating anxiety, insomnia, seizures, and muscle spasms.
SIDE EFFECTS: The most frequent side effects of Mylan 271 (Diazepam)
pills are drowsiness, fatigue, and ataxia (loss of balance). Rarely,
Diazepam causes a paradoxical reaction with excitability, muscle
spasm, lack of sleep, and rage. Confusion, depression, speech
problems, and double vision are also rare side effects of Diazepam.
Avoid alcohol while taking Diazepam. Alcohol may increase drowsiness
and dizziness caused by medication. Alcohol may also increase the
risk of having a seizure if Diazepam is being taken for a seizure
Diazepam may increase the effects of other drugs that cause
drowsiness, including antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines,
sedatives (used to treat insomnia), pain relievers, anxiety medicines,
seizure medicines, and muscle relaxants.
Mylan's Diazepam, like Diazepam produced by any other manufacturer, can
be habit-forming. Do not take a larger dose of Mylan 271 tablets, take
them more often, or for a longer time than your doctor tells you to.
You cannot make your own diagnosis by comparing symptoms. Do
not skip doses even if you feel that you do not need them. Do not take
Mylan 271 for more than 4 months or stop taking this medication without
talking to your doctor. Stopping the drug suddenly can worsen your
condition and cause withdrawal symptoms (anxiousness, sleeplessness,
and irritability). Your doctor probably will decrease your dose
