Diazepam (Valium) (including DAN 5620 generic version) is a
member of the benzodiazepine family. Benzodiazepines are drugs that
cause dose-related depression of the central nervous system. They are
useful in treating anxiety, insomnia, seizures, and muscle spasms.
All the benzodiazepines, including Diazepam, may increase the effects
of other drugs that cause drowsiness. Among those substances,
antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines, sedatives (used to treat
insomnia), pain relievers, anxiety medicines, seizure medicines, and
muscle relaxants are found.
Watson's Diazepam, like Diazepam produced by any other manufacturer,
can be habit-forming. Do not take a larger dose of DAN 5620 tablets,
take them more often, or for a longer time than your doctor tells you
to. You cannot make your own diagnosis by comparing symptoms. Do
not skip doses even if you feel that you do not need them. Do not take
DAN 5620 pills for more than 4 months or stop taking this medication without
talking to your doctor. Stopping the drug suddenly can worsen your
condition and cause withdrawal symptoms (anxiousness, sleeplessness,
and irritability). You are recommende to decrease your dose
gradually, weaning off it.
Keep DAN 5620 pills in the container they came in, tightly closed, and
out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from
excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any DAN
5620 pill that is outdated or no longer needed. Talk to your
pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication.
Do not let anyone else take your DAN 5620 Diazepam
pills. Ask your pharmacist any questions you have about refilling your
prescription.
